The first estimate on a damaged vehicle is written before anything is taken apart. It is a prediction, and the gap between that prediction and the finished repair is where a shop quietly loses margin.
The causes repeat: operations performed but never written onto the estimate, parts identified by description instead of by part number, repair-versus-replace decided by reflex, and supplements that negotiate badly because the original document was thin. Nobody could have written this as a requirements document. It only became visible from inside the operation, across a lot of real vehicles.

This is the case study where it would be easiest to invent a number, and we have not. There is no customer count here, no accuracy percentage and no claim of manufacturer authorisation, because none of those have been established in a way we would defend. Using OEM parts and OEM procedures does not make a product OEM-approved, and the product site says so too.
